Do you take your pet with you when you go traveling? If you do then here are some tips to make it a hassle free event!
Medication for your pet can be a worry when you decide to go travelling, but if you make sure that you have enough medication for the duration of your stay then you should be okay. Carry your veterinarian's number with you in case of any emergency, or in case you need another prescription is also another good idea.
Planning ahead is vitally important to a stress free break. You should always be aware that not all places accept pets and you should always check in advance that the place you are planning to stay in is welcoming of pets.
If your pet is a dog always make sure that your pet is wearing its tags, one should clearly state your dog's name, with your address and phone numbers on it and another tag should be a current rabies tag.
If you are taking a cell phone with you, make sure that this number is also on the tag. Some owners even think about micro chipping their pets as a safeguard.
Try to make your pet a little more relaxed on the journey by bringing along some of their favourite possessions such as blanket, pillow or food dish. The more relaxed your pet is the more enjoyable your journey will be.
Always take frequent breaks on your journey. There are plenty rest stops on the highway to allow your pet some light relief and exercise. The exercise may make your pet tired and they may rest for part of the journey, and this may stop them pacing about restlessly in your vehicle.
Make sure that you comply with all the regulations and clean up after your pets.
