Ever been bitten by a dog? I'm not talking about a little nip, but a real bite. There's nothing remotely pleasant about it. Dog attacks are fairly frequent in the United States, with nearly a thousand people in emergency rooms daily because of a dog bite. It's important to receive prompt medical attention should you be a victim of a dog bite. Often, an attacking dog is rabid or suffering from other health problems. This is even more true if the dog is a stray, as strays are more prone to disease.

That doesn't exclude the possibility of bites from domesticated animals. Unfortunately, many dog owners do not adequately take care of their dogs. In the event of most animal attacks, it is basically a no brainer as long as you weren't teasing the animal. In fact, many attorneys reach an out of court settlement in dog bite cases. This alleviates your having to attend court and spend more of your time on the matter. An attorney will be able to obtain medical evidence and do an investigation into the animal's history. Your attorney will learn whether the dog has bitten anyone previously and if it's current on it's vaccinations, all of which are very helpful in this type of case.

More than likely, they will be happy to assist you.

Of course, to avoid all of this, we as responsible pet owners must be sure to have our pets vaccinated regularly and keep them contained.
